ProCor: Promoting Cardiovascular Health
ProCor is a global communication network promoting cardiovascular health in developing countries and other low-resource settings through affordable, effective preventive strategies in clinical, community, and policy settings.
Dr. Bernard Lown founded ProCor in 1997 to utilize accessible and low-cost communication technologies in order to promote relevant solutions to cardiovascular disease in these low-resource settings.
Built on the premise that the right information in the right hands can save lives, ProCors mission is to promote heart health around the world. The first step in preventing cardiovascular and other preventable diseases is to communicate the latest knowledge and most accurate information to health professionals, policymakers, and the public. Information is essential to raise awareness, shape intervention and strategy design, and motivate people to take action. ProCor provides this first step to health practitioners around the world who are positioned to reverse the course of the CVD pandemic in their own communities.
ProCor provides a news and discussion forum promoting cardiovascular health and the prevention of related conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and hypertension through cost-effective practices in clinical, community and policy settings. ProCor uses e-mail and the web to provide timely and unbiased health information that is relevant in developing countries and other low-resource settings.
